SafeCare is an evidence-based home visitation program that has been shown to reduce child maltreatment among families with a history or with risk factors for maltreatment. SafeCare consists of four modules: Health, Home Safety, Parent-Child Interactions, and Problem Solving and Engagement. All modules involve baseline assessments, training and follow-up assessments to monitor change. Staff members conduct observations of parental knowledge and skills for each module by using a set of checklists. Service providers and parents are trained using the SafeCare 4 process: Explain, Model, Practice and Feedback. SafeCare works with a family for 18-22 weeks.
