Respite is a short term respite program provided by Cayuga Centers in a New York State Certified foster home or a residential setting. The goal of respite is to provide the youth and the family a therapeutic, safe environment for youth needing a short term (1-2 days) placement for various purposes. Reasons for respite can include, but are not limited to stabilization, de-escalation, family relief, or other issues. During a respite stay, Cayuga Centers staff coordinates all services required by the youth including, but not limited to, transportation to school, medical appointments, etc. in collaboration with the home based provider working with the family.
